NORMANBY.
FAREWELL TO MR. AND MRS. LINN. FROM PRESBYTERIAN FRIENDS. On Friday last the Presbyterian Hall was filled by a gathering of friends of Mr and Mrs R. J. Linn to mark their departure, after many years of good work in the chuurcli, "and to show appreciation of that service. Rev. R. E. Evans, Mr W. Stewart and Mr G. H. Ralph all spoke in glowing terms of the great help given to church work during their long iresidence in Normanby, and the very high esteem in which they were held*, by all. Mr Linn had, said Mr Ralph in making a, presentation on behalf of the church people, been a leading elder lor a long time, and both Mr and Mrs Linn had given faithful service, and had not spared themselves in any way in forwarding the work of the clmrch. He asked their acceptance of a silver tea service, on an oak tray, silver-mounted, and suitably inscribed: “To Mr and Mrs R. J. Linn for long and faithful service.”
Mr I jinn, in well-chosen words, briefly acknowledged the kindness of their many friends, adding that they would neve ( r forget the many hapnv years spent in Normanbv, and that the very handsome present would serve to remind them of their good friends in South Taranaki. An excellent series of musical and elocutionary numbers was given by Hawera friends, and all were much appreciated. At the close of the evening refreshments were handed round by the ladies, and a very interesting function thus concluded.
