LEGISLATION TO PROVIDE FOR IT DESIRED. 'BV TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION-' WELLINGTON. July 23. request- that the Government should legislate to provide more liberally for old age mas made by a punting trade employees’ deputation to the Hon. Mr. Anderson. The, chairman and secretary pointed out that the London Typographical Union was able to pension old members at £2 per ueek. This was impossible here, as the unions were prevented from handling cash benefits. The powers; ol the unions were infinitesimal compaietl ith America and England . Mr. Anderson said that he believed that the contributory system was the only way to enable proper provision to be made. He was afraid that he would be unable to get a Pensions Bill adequate to the big principles at issue through this year, hut he hoped to iemove some anomalies.
