Chicago reports state that the great sections of tfte Canadian wheat areas have been heavily damaged by drought, wfuch has caused the price 01 wheat to reach the season’s high level of 127 ce.nts for September delivery, a gain of 53 cents a bushel over -yesterday. dispatches indicated that thousands of acres have been ploughed under, while other areas are burned black. Official dispatches indicate that crop-saving rains fell in Northern Alberta and in Southern and Central Saskatchewan, excessive droughts, however, still 'continuing in Northern Saskatchewan, and crop failures are inevitable. Winnipeg grain dealers freely predict that wheat will shortly reach 150 cents a bushel. Maize has also made a sensational advance of 4£ cents, reaching 911 cents for May delivery. This is due to adverse crop reports from Ohio and Indiana.
LONDON, July 16. Wheat cargoes, owing to rain in Canada, fell by 6d to 9d. Parcels are quiet at 9d to Is decline, re-sellers taking, the- profits.
