very pleasant function > was held on Saturday evening, when members of the Pirate Football Club assembled to bid farewell to their president, Mr. W. S. Dustin, who leaves shortly for England with the official party of the All Blacks. During the evening reference was made to Mr. Dustin’s efforts to further the interests of the club, and Mr. T. H. Nixon (patron), on behalf of the members, made him the recipient of a leather suit case as a token oi the esteem in which he is held. — Wanganui Chronicle.
On Wednesday afternoon, male members of the staff of the Christchurch manual training centres met in the Canterbury. Education Board’s room to bid farewell to Mr. A. Sharp, one of the members of the staff who has recently secured an important appointment at the Wanganui Technical College. On behalf of the Aaff Mr. Grant presented him with a goldmounted pencil, and expressed the hoard’s appreciation of the good work done by Mr. Sharp whilst in its employ. One and all congratulated him on having made good, even though suffering from severe disabilities brought on by shell-shock at the Great War.
