MANUTAHI.

(From Our Ow'n Correspondent.) A euchre party and dance was held in the Coronation Hall on AVednesday night. A fairly large gathering . assembled for the occasion, Mesdames Barclay and AVard being the hostesses for the evening. After a couple of hours devoted to the game of euchre a bountiful supper w’as partaken of and the floor cleared for dancing. The successful prize-winners w'ere: Gentlemen, Mr A. Schw'ass; ladies, MrsD. Schwass Consolation: Gentlemen, Mr Geary ladies, Mrs AA’alker. Dancing was then indulged in till about 1 a.m., the music for the dances being supplied by local ladies. Mr C. S. Barclay acted as M.C. The proceeds were in aid of the local hall funds. There has been a great improvement in the state of the roads here, owing to the spell of flue frosty w'eather and also the quantity of good metal which the council is laying dow'n on the different roads, the two motor lorries being kept busy. . Ib*' a R' in the morning is silent now in comparison to w’hen the milk wa"gons are hurrying back and forward to the factory with their loads of milk, the voices of the calves being conspicuous by their absence. The nastures are looking rather bare, hut as long as the farmers have abundant winter feed the stock .will not suffer much.
