Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having leceived the following cablegram, from their London house under date of the 11th inst, : “Wool sales closeu active; competition brisk. As compared with. Last sales closing rates, greasy merino combing good unchanged, other descriptions Id to llcl Tower. Scoured merino super, unchanged ; • other descriptions Id to 2d lower. good demand, any change of prices in favour of sellers. 95,360 bales offered, including 15,934 South American, 36,000 New Zealand. The Home trade bought 33,500,. Continent 28,000, leaving 63,000 carried forward, of which 37,500 were not offered. July Wool Sales—The sales closed firmly to-day. Competition, more active. As compai’ed with last sales’ closing rates, prices are low’er about par to 5 per cent, for medium greasy merino, inferior greasy merino and scoured super merino. Prices are lower, about 5 to 71 per cent, for crossbred lambs, medium greasy crossbred, coarse greasy crossbred, scoured medium merino and scoured inferior merino. Prices are lower about 71 to 10 per cent, for coarse crossbred slipe and medium crossbred slipe. Prices are lower about 5 per cent, for fine crossbred and per cent, lower for medium scoured crossbred arid coarse scoured crossbred. Prices are ■ higher about par to 5, per cent, for greasy super merino. Tire prices realised for average to. super grades of descriptions as below were as follows :
Merino super, 34s to 36c1; merino average, 24d to 31d; crossbred, 56/58 26d to 32d, 50/56 22d to. 27d, 48/50 19d to 24d, 46/48 17d to 2Hd, 44/46 16*1 to 19*d, 40/44 16d to 17*d, 36/40 15d to 17d. LONDON REPORTS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 11th inst. :—. N.Z. Frozen Meat.—Lamb, 10|d per lb (average); good demand. Mutton, quotations unchanged; market slow. N.Z. Dairy Produce.—'Butter, choicest salted 186 s to 190 s per cwt; quiet but steady. Cheese, 90s to 94s per cwt; good demand for white. Messrs. A. H. Turnbull and Co. have received a cable from their principals, Messrs. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London 11th, reading as follows (last- week’s quotations in parentheses): Danish butter,. 202 s to 206 s (200 s to 2045); N.Z. unsalted, 204 s (200 s to 2045), salted, 186 s to 190 s (188 s to 192 s); market quiet but steady. Cheese,.-white- 92s to 94s (93s to 945), coloured 90s to 92s (92s to 945); whitegood demand, coloured slow.

hide and sheepskin sale. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., Wellington, report: We offered on Friday 4000 sheepskins and 350 hides, the attendance of buyers being as usual. Dry skins sold about par to a halfpenny lower. Salted skins were from 6d to Is per skin below last sale’s values. Hides mot a disappointing market, and prices on the. whole were below those obtainable at last sale, excepting Jor kip, which were Id ner lb better.
