With reference to the Press Association telegram from Timaru on Saturday referring to the case of seven children whose parents were in indigent circumstances and were unable to support them, the Prime Minister to-day stated that he had made inquiries from the State Advances Department, and the superintendent had informed him that the woman’s application had been carefully considered by the. board, which had resolved to .grant a loan of £BSO on mortgage for 364 years. The solicitors in the matter had been instructed to prepare the necessary mortgage certificate, which was received on May 14. The first progress certificate on ‘the erection of the dwelling subsequently came to hand and a progress payment of £3OO had been remitted to the solicitors in the case on Julv 3.
