(trom Our Own Correspondent.) Last week the iirst of ;i series of eueh re parties in aid of the local hall was held, and proved very successful. Ihe night being fine, a good attendance mustered for the occasion, the winners being: Ladies, Mrs. D. Schwass; gentlemen, Mr Luff. A bountiful supper provided by the ladies was partaken of, after which dancing was indulged in for the rest of the evening. The sum of £4 was taken at the door. Ouite a number of people seem to be leaving this district, a s there have been several send-offs lately—the latest being one to Mr and Mrs. Booth and l T - J - Wills last Friday mght,. Euchre was indulged in during the first part of the evening the luc-kv ones being: Ladies, Mrs. D. Schwass''gentlemen Mr. Booth. After the supper had been partaken of, eulogistic speeches were made by several people mw 111 ’ and . eac ; h of the guests of the evening ieceived a presentation from the people of Manutahi, accompanied by best wishes for luck and prosperitv. | Lancing was kept up till the earlv nours, hut there is evidentiv a dearth of dancmg ladies in the district at the present time. A knick-knack party was tendered to M.s s Hananh Wills la tel v prior to hei marriage.
