The Bank... of New, Zealand produce department ; iias received the following advice from its London office under date July I: —“The sales have, opened with, moderate competition and a large attendance of buyers: There is only a moderate demand for all kinds of wool. Compared with the close of last, series, prices are lower; as follows: -'Merinos, id to lid per ,1b • halfhreds, 2i-.d; fine crossbreds, lid' to 2d; medium, lid; coarse, Id to lid.” The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from, their London bouse under date Ist instant: — “July wool sales: There was a, good attendance at the opening cf the sales to-day. Competition by Home and French buyers was fairly -active, and prices, as compared with the,.close of the preceding -secies, | ruled par to 5 per cent, lower- for good merino, 5 per cent, to 10 ner cent, lower for medium and inferior merino, and about 7i per cent, lower lor crossbred. The opening catalogues were fairly representative.”
