YESTERDAY’S SALE, The second national and first Taranaki provincial sale of pedigree Frisians. was continued at the A. and P. show' grounds yesterday afternoon. Though the lots offered all showed good, breeding strains, many failed to realise the minimum bid of 30 guineas during the sale proper and were passed. The top price- was paid for the Carlyle Friesian. Company’s heifer, Sylvia Posch of Dutchland (Dutchland of Oakview—Sylvia of the South), which fell to the bid of the Piri Land Co; at 101 guineas, and was subsequently transferred to Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., for export to the Argentine. The average price of the heifers sold was 49 guineas, the cows averaging 43) guineas. Two bulls were disposed of at 30 and’ 45 guineas each. The most successful vendor was Mr. L. Hitchcock, of Normaiiby, who sold five cows, and one bull at a. total realisation of 262 guineas, Messrs. Marchant- and Sons (Cardiff) being next oh the list with four heifers at a total of 147) guineas, but whereas some of the former’s offering were passed, the whole of Messrs. Marcliants’ catalogued lots were sold. The majority of the purchases were made by provincial breeders, though buyers from Auckland and Canterbury were also operating, ami Mr. D. .H.
