WHAREROA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday evening last the ladies’ leap year ball took place, when there were about sixty couples on the floor. The whole affair was a great success, and reflected much credit* on the lion, Miss Eustace. Splendid music was supplied bv Mr McDonald, who kept the dances going with a good swing, while extras were played by Mesdames Craig and Benton and Miss Arden. Misses Hicks and H. Eustace, as M.C.’s, saw that no one was waiting for a partner, and carried out their duties in first-class style. Large numbers of visitors were present from Hawera, Tokaora, and Tawhiti. A good number of non-dancers also spent the evening pleasantly with cards. Supper was provided by the ladies, and the ball was voted one of the best held in Whareroa.
