TARANAKI PRESBYTERY.

RESOLUTIONS CONCERNING NEW HEBRIDES CONTROL. The Taranaki Presbytery, at its meeting in Hav.era on Tuesday last, passed the following resolution regarding the condominium in the New Hebrides “The Taranaki Presbytery, having learnt of the continuance of conditions in the New Hebrides, which are profoundly unsatisfactory to all concerned, a grave menace to the life and well-be-ing of the .natives and a, scandal to civilisation, urges upon the Government to take whatever .steps are possible to ensure the ending of the condominium, and the bringing of the islands under sole British control. The Presbytery also commends to the members of the congregations within the bounds and to electors generally the petition which is now being circulated to this end ; and calls upon our people to remember ti e New Hebrides in ceaseless prayer, and to use every constitutional iheans of arousing the enthusiasm of the community in support of energtic action by the authorities.” It was reported to the Presbytery that large numbers had signed the petition. Rev. J. D. Smith suggested that failing the request of the petition, the Imperial Government be asked to. state, a. case the Council of the League of Nations as to whovghould be given a mandate over the islands.
