Inspector Emerson's Case.
THE INSPECTOR EXONERATED,
(BY TKi.Kor.ArH.)
(Per Press Association.)
Wellington, Dec. 20,
Mr Eyre Kenny, S.M., reporting on the charges against Inspector Emerson, of Napier, states that the first charge of drukenness and card-playing on the s.s. Dingadee is absolutely disproved. There was no evidence in support of the allegations. In regard to the charge that Inspector Emerson returned from Gisborne drunk, and was guilty of disgusting conduct, also that he used abusive and threatening language, the Commissioner reports that this part of the case presented great difficulties, but on the whole of the evidence he thinks the inspector should also be acquitted on these charges, which were not proven. The Commissioner makes no order as to costs.
