0 A WASTE OF TIME
[By Telegraph.]
Christchurch, This day,
At a sitting of the Conciliation Board to-dav the dispute with the freezing companies as employers of engineers was called on. Mr Waymouth said there was absolutely nothing to discuss. The Freezing Companies were busy men, and it was only a waste of time to remain. Mr Gilbert Anderson endorsed these remarks, and said if this kind of thing went on they should be called in next week to the carpenters or bricklayers disputes. The Chairman pointed out tha<L Justice Williams had ruled that ■wiieip' there was no dispute the parties were still amenable. Mr Anderson said there was nothing to settle, and they must decline to be cited. The Chairman said he would have to report to the Court of Arbitration that the Board could not bring about a settlement. Mr Fraser, representative of the engineers, asked what plea the Freezing Companies had for declining to be cited. The representatives of the Freezing Companies refused to go into the matter, and said it was their wi&h that the matters should go to the Arbitration Court. They then withdrew.
