Nelson College.

DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES

(Ver Press Association.)

Nelson, Dec. 16. At the distribution of prizes at Nelson College last night Mr James Sclanders, recently removed from the Board of College Governors, presided, and a very large audience gave him an ovation. At the conclusion of the proceedings, on the motion of Mr A. T. Maginnity, seconded by the Rev. Mr Ivempthone, the following resolution was unanimously and vociferously carried : —" That this meeting of parents and pupils, past and present, desire to express to Mr J. Sclanders its high appreciation of the great services he has rendered to the Nelson College as a Governor of that institution for a period of upwards of eighteen years, and to convey fcc his Excellency the Governor, as an official visitor, its extreme regret that he has deemed it necessary to terminate Mr Sclander's official connection with the college ; and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded through the Colonial Secretary to his Excellency the Governor." During the evening great applause and cheers were given for Mr Sclanders.
