Fire at Hastings.
+ A SIX-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED. A six-roomed liouse in Queen-street, Hastings, occupied by Mr Scott, carpenter, was totally destroyed by fire shortly after midnight on Tuesday night. It appears that Mr Scott and his family retired to rest about nine o'clock. At midnight Mrs Scott was awakened by the smdl of fire and aroused her husband. On £et ing up Mr Scott discovered the kitchen t > be in flaines. The family was quickly got out, and Mr and Mrs Scott, assisted by neighbours, then devoted themselves to removing the furniture. The flames had such a good hold, of the house that very little could be got out. In the work of rescue Mr and Mrs Scott were singed about the head and face. An alarm was sounded upon the local tirebell and the Fire Brigade turned out promptly. Nothing could, however, be done to save the building. The house was insured for £l5O and the furniture for £75 in the London, Liverpool and Globe office. The origin of the fire is a mystery. Mr Scott's losa is something considerable.
