Heavy Floods on the West Coast.

[By Telegraph.] (Per Press Association.) Greymouth, This day. It has been raining hard for the last 24 hours. All the rivers are rising rapidly and there is every appearance of a big flood. Six Chinamen who were fishing at Teremakau yesterday did not notice the river rising till an island had been made of where they stood, and they were unable to get to the mainland. They had to remain there all night and at 10 this morning only five were seen up to their waists in water. A boat and rocket apparatus were dispatched from Greymouth to attempt a rescue. Part of Jackson Line, Midland Railway, has been washed aw a}'. The amounted of damage is not yet obtainable.
