Government Caucus.

MR WARD TO TAKE HIS SEAT "WITHOUT OPPOSITION. (By Telegraph). (Per Press Association.) "Wellington, This Day. At the caucus of Government supporters this morning 37 were present and five others accounted for. It was decided to allow Mr Ward to take the oath without opposition and that a committee of privilege be appointed to consider the matter. Mr Ward was present and read a statement regarding his position and then retired while the meeting deliberated. The privilege committee will be representative of both sides of the House. Later. The ex-Treasurer told the caucus that he only asked to Le allowed to take the oath and make an explanation, and promised not to speak or vote till he got his discharge. Ministers were agreeable to this course till several of their party said they were distinctly averse to an undischarged bankrupt being allowed to sit. Mr Seddon, adapting himself to the circumstances, agreed to move for a committee of privileges. The opinion is held in the lobbies that the committee will probably report adversely to Mr Ward taking his seat.
