Reduction in Railway Freights.

[By Teleguaph.] (Per IVt « Arxociativn.) Wellisgtox, This day. The Minister of Bailways has decided to make a reduction in tbe freights on certain articles. From October Ist a reduction of lime used for fertilisation, firewood, post and rails, hoire blocks, chaff, hay, straw, beetroot, carrot?, mangolds, turnips, scrap iron, and certain other articles will begin at 01 miles and gradually increase up to .SO, at which distance the rate will be 4s 2d per truck". Frozen meat freights are to be reduced from Class C. to D. Port rates between the breakwater and New Plymouth are reduced from 8s 6d to 8s per ton and between Lyttelton and Christchurch 5s to 4s 6d.
