Wellington, This day. Fresh charges against the Assyrians for evasion of the Customs duties were called at the Magistrate's Court today. The defendants waived their right to costs in the case against them in the Supreme Court and which was discontinued, and agreed to pay a certain amount to the Customs Department in mitigation of the offence, Such payment is extended over a period and the cases have been adjourned until the amount is paid when they will be dismissed. Dunedin, This day. Gold is being obtained in large quantities by the Electric Dredge (No 2), which is still being worked in the river near Cromwell.
