A Pathetic Story.

A YOUNG WOMAN SUICIDES

(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, June 20. Marion White, M.A., committed suicide on Saturday evening by taking poison. She had been for some time past coaching students, and it was understood doing well. She was a graduate of the Otago University. This day. Marion White had a brilliant academy career. She was a provincial University scholarship holder, and gained M.A. with honors. For some time she has been overworked, having to support two maiden sisters. She studied chemistry and had plenty of poisons in the house. On Saturday she purchased an ounce cf prussic acid and took it. In a letter addressed to Dr Colquhoun she analysed her mental feelings, and said the deed was premediated. She stated that fate was pursuing her and she felt she must die. In another letter to a member of the medical f rofessioh she gave directions as to bow her wishes were to be complied with after death, and she conveyed a pathetic farewell to her friends. She was 28 years of age.

It is known that for some years she has had a hard struggle for bare existence.
