Wellington, This day. It has been decided that in future the Press shall be admitted to any inquiry into accidents on the Government Kailways. Two of the Maxim guns ordered by the Government have arrived. Each of the large centres will-have one 'placed in charge of the volunteer corps. The following appointed J.P.'s : —W. C. Bircs (TVloawhanga), F. Gradwell (Makareka), M. J. Jobbin (Nuhaka), N. M'Phee (Dannevirke), J. W. Sargisson (Wairoa), R. B. Sim (Mohaka), and G. Stubbs (Napier). The poll taken on the proposal to apply the principle of rating on unimproved values for borough taxation was carried by a large majority. Auckland, This day.
