Punts for Gisborne.

THE HOPPEE PUNT BREAKS AWAY. AND HAS TO BE ABANDONED. [By Telegraph.] (Pt'r Press Association.) Gisbohne, This day. Whilst O'Connor's punts, purchased from the Napier Harbor Board, were being towed to Gisborne by the Ahuriri the iron hopper punt broke away off Portland Island through the hawser parting. A heavy sea was running at the time; in fact the sea was washing right over the other punt, and there ■were Gin. of water in the steamer's cabin but nevertheless she stood by for ten hours to see if there was any chance of picking up the punt. As the sea showed no signs of abating and a heavy breeze was blowing the steamer resumed her journey and got here safely with the other punt. On her return she will make a careful search for the hopper punt, and Mr O'Connor hopes to recover it.
