ENDEAVORS MADE TO INDUCE GREECE TO YIELD. EXCESSES BY MOSLEMS. A RUSSIAN GUN ACCIDENT. FRANCE JOINS THE ALLIANCE. HORRIBLE MASSACRES OF MOSLEMS BY CHRISTIANS. (/Vr P/V'.ss A-"S'>ciuii<>n—< n/ii/rii/tit). Athens, March I~>. England, France, and Italy are making unofficial endeavors to induce Greece to yield to the demands of the Powers. The blockade of Crete commences on Wednesday. The Greek subjects in Bulgaria, London, and Paris are starting to join their regiments. Owing to the Moslems excesses at Heraklion the Consuls have asked the Admirals to land marines. March 16. A gun burst on board the Russian ironclad Cissowiliki at C'anea destroying the turret, and killed an officer and 14 men and wounded 15 so seriously that they cannot recover. Enquiries made by the Italian Consul at Crete authenticates the horrible massacre of Moslems at Dafius. One hundred and sixty took refuge in a mosque, which was set fire to, the inmates being burned to death. Eight hundred Moslems are missing from Sitia. It is feared they have been massacred. Twenty Moslem women took refuge in a cave. The Christian mob tried to sun'ocate them bv filling the cave with the fumes of- paraffin, but they were rescued. Pakjs, March 10. In the Chamber of Deputies M. Hanotaux, Minister for Foreign Affairs, submitted a motion in favor of France acting with the other Powers in reference to Crete. He said the concert of the Powers remained unbroken, and each were sending GOO troops to Crete. M. Meline urged that the policy of isolation was dangerous to France. The Chamber, by a majority of 21H approved the resolution.
