Napier Supreme Court.

(/Vr I'rex.s A*.siiriati">i.) Napier, This Day. The Supreme Court opened this morning. -Judge Edwards was welcomed by Mr Cotterill, the Crown prosecutor, on behalf of the Bar of Napier. His Honor suitably replied. In charging the Grand Jury, his Honor said it was a matter for congratulation that the calendar contained no offences of a serious nature, being confined to the usual charges' of forgery and uttering and simple theft. The Grand Jury threw out the bill against John Johansen, seaman, charged with stabbing his mate. The case against Edward Noyes, charged with sheep stealing, was withdrawn.

George Ellis {for uttering) pleaded guilty and .sentence was deferred. \V. L. Mason pleaded guilty to embezzling from the Railway Department. lie was admitted to three years' probation and ordered to pay the costs.

Robert A. llasketh, for forgery and uttering, was sentenced to one year. Henry Ryan, oHxk Defoy, forgery and uttering, shammed lunacy, but was found guilty. Sentence was deferred.
