The premises of Tuine and Co., chemical manufacturers, Bond street, were completely gutted this morning. The fire originated by an explosion in the private office, supposed to have been caused by the effects of the sun on the chemicals. Within three minutes the whole place was in Ihunes. Insurance : .Stock, £I,OOO in the New Zealand office ; building, £OOO, National. Mr Taine estimates the loss on the stock to he £I.OOO over the insurance.
