Discovery of Human Remains.
A SUPPOSED CASE OF DOUBLE SUICIDE. [By Telegraph.] (Per I'res.s Association.) Wellington, Dec. 27. A singular affair was reported tonight to the Inspector of Police. A discovery was made to-day in the bush at Plimmevton, a favorite si aside resort near Wellington, of the remains of a man and woman. The skeletons had been considerably disturbed, apparently by roaming cattle, but the skulls were intact and in each was a bullet wound. Near by two revolvers were found: also a bottle, and the later contained a note stating that they were tired of life and had determined to destroy themselves ; further, that who they were was of no consequence. In the bottle were seven £1 notes, left for the burial of the bodies. A portmanteau found in the vicinity contained a New Zealand Times, dated October 20th, 1894, and it is supposed that is about the date of the tragic, incident. There is nothing to indicate the names of the victims, but it is believed they went out by train and committed the rash act. The police are inquiring as to missing persons about that time.
