Mr Walter Bailey is a candidate in the Liberal interest. His candidature is supported by the Government. Mr Bryce withdraws, therfore the contest is between Mr F. Y. Lethbridge and Mr Bailev.
Wellington, This day
Mr Samuel 15rown, president of the Wellington Industrial Exhibition, is being requisitioned to .stand for Wellington City. Mr C. M. Luke, the well-known ironfounder, and an exMayor. has been asked by the Liberal Association to become a candidate, and he is taking time to consider.
Mr T. 11. Smith is announced as a Progressive Liberal candidate to oppose Mr Buchanan for Wairarapa. • At a meeting of the Liberal and Labor Political Council of Canterbury a ballot of candidates resulted : Christchureh : Messrs G. Smith, T. E. Taylor, and G. W. Ell. Avon: Mr W. Tanner. Lyttelton : Mr J. Joyce. Biccarton : Mr G. W. Bussell.
