The Wanganui Spring Meeting opens to-morrow, and from all appearaces some good racing should eventuate. Several New Zealand Cup horses will sport silk, and their performances will be watched with more than ordinary interest. The Spring Handicap is the first race set down for decision, in which five ont of the eight acceptors are New Zealand Cup horses. My selections for the opening event are— Lorelei Slaiden Bloomsbury The Trial Hack, for which ajlarge number have accepted, should result in win for the best of— First Result Lioht Guaiidsjiax The Wanganui Derby has dwindled down to three starters, and the numbers may go up in the following order : Defiance St Paul Cceur de Lion. The First Hurdle Race may result thus : Kapua Frank Glenelg. The Hack Hurdles is a very open race, but I expect to see the finish fought out between— Egmont Gipsy Prince Venture. The Hack Handicap comes up for decision next, when I expect to see the following numbers go up : Indian Shot Aqua Fortis Novelty. The Flying Handicap concludes the first day's programme and sthould be fought out between— Errand Boy Umslopogaas St Paul
