THE AGITATION SPREADING. DECIDED TONE OF THE PRESS C; E N DARMES E XONERATED. THE ARMENIANS RECEIVE A WARNING. " London, Sept. 14. The agitation on the Armenian question is growing apace, and an intense feeling of unrest is being manifested in England. Lord Rosebery says the Powers are wholly to blame for their inaction, and hopes that the Czar would exercise his boundless power in the cause of well-doing. Numbers of the clergy, both in London and the provinces, discoursed yesterday on the persecution of Armenian Christians. At St Paul's prayers were offered for the Christians left in the " City of Doom." The Press generally is very decided in its tone, and maintains that the Sultan's power must be curtailed. The Times warns its readers against the danger of provoking war, while the Chronicle says that unless the Powers depose the Sultan England must. Constantinople, Sept. 14. In defiance of the evidence adduced by the Embassies, a special tribunal set np to investigate the recent outrage acquits the gendarmes of murder. The police are warning the Armenians that they remain in Constantinople at their peril.
