The Petone Murder.
SHORE COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.
Wellington, Sept. 4. Shore was committed for trial on the charge of murder at Petone. The only new evidence was that he had taken a boot to be mended on the evening of the murder saying he wanted to use it that night. He called at 8.30 p.m. and took it away. The boots were taken by the police next day and the soles found to be damp as if used on the previous ingMr Wilford applied for bail wbiah was refused, and he then called some evidence, as he said, to guide the police in further inquiries. Two witnesses deposed to seeing two men, one tall, on Thursday evening snd Friday morning, -who looked like runaway sailors and seemed foreigners, A pawnbroker's assistant said a dagger was sold on the day before the murder to a tall man wearing a slouch hat which he pulled over his face. Another man answering the description of one of those given by the previous witnesses had visited the shop seYwai times Mm,
