Drowning at Gisborne.

SUPPOSED NAPIERITE. Special to Standakd. [By Telegraph.] Gisboene, This day. A man, name unknown, was drowned in the river late last night. The night watchman of the Freezing Works heard cries of help and a rescue party went out in a boat, bat found no trace. A very strong current was flowing out of the river and it is supposed the body was carried out to sea. The victim is supposed to be Engineer Joseph Sullivan, from Napier. A search to-day by the police for the body was unsuccessful.
