The Mines Statement.
BEFORE THE HOUSE. [By Telegraph.] f From our• Special Correspondent.) Wellington, this day. The Mines Statement, laid on the table of the House this afternoon, states the total production of gold and silver for the past year was '378,575 ounces, representing a value of £1,192,843 compared with the value of £854,586 in the preceding year. The quantity of gold entered for exportation was 802,6900z5, of the value of £1,196,081, an increase of 79,7070zs compared with the previous year. Auckland shows the largest increase, being 58,9980z5, or more than double the previous year. The number of men employed on the goldfields was 18,226, as compared with 11,412 the previous year. The Queen of Beauty Company, Thames, has to erect machinery capable of pumping and wkiding to a depth of 2000 ft, and in consideration the company will be aided by a Government subsidy of £ for £up to £25,000.
