The item £450, final vote in connection with the New Zealand Rifle Association appearing in the defence estimates is for outstanding expenses at last meeting. At present no provision is made for next-year's meeting at Auckland. Sir Robert Stout and Mr Mitchelson are at present visiting Auckland. Both are likely to be away for a week. The Banking Committee of the Council do not meet till half past two, when Mr Foster's examination will be continued concerning the Estates Company. At the Banking Committee Inquiry to-day Mr Seddon intimated that he had received a communication from the Speaker that Mr Watson had paid the £SOO fine.
