THE WOOL SALES. THE ENCYCLICAL LETTER. MR BRYAN REPUDIATED. STATUE TO JOAN OF ARC. London, July 15. At the wool auctions there is keen competition at higher prices. The present series close on Tuesday next. Great heat continues to be felt in London and the provinces, and many deaths are recorded. Dr Benson, Primate of England, considers the Pope's encyclical contrary to doctrine and English history. It is expected that fully 200 Bishops will be present at the Lambeth Conference. Washington, July 15. The Hons. R. Olney and H. A. H. Herbert and other leading Democrats decline to support Mr Bryan for the Presidency. Cornelius Yanderbilt has had a stroke of paralysis, but is recovering. Paris, July 115. The Due d" Orleans is betrothed to a daughter of Archduke Joseph, of Austria. President Fauvre unveiled a statue of Joan of Arc to-day at Rheims amid great enthusiasm.
