* AGAINST GLOUCESTERSHIRE. A BIG SCORE BY COLONIALS. A ONE INNINGS' VICTORY FOR THE AUSTRALIANS. \ London, June 5. The match was continued in fine weather. With no wickets clown for 80 runs, the Australians made a prolonged stand, being at the wickets all day, and, with two exceptions, all reached double figures. Donnon played a cautious game for 87, and Gregory rattled up 61 in quick time. Hill played steadily for his runs, but the others hit out freely. The innings closed for 378 runs. The following are the scores : Darling 35 Donnan ... ... 87 Graham ... ... 3 Giffen ... *... ... 25 Gregory ... ... 64 Hill 83 Iredale ... ... ... 34 Trott ... 4 Trumble 38 Kelly, not out ... ... 23 Extras ... ... 32 Total ... 378 June 6. The Englishmen were at the crease to-day, and although they made a much better stand than in their first attempt compiling 181 runs, they were defeated by an innings and 91 runs.
Sewell made an excellent stand for 37, and W. G. Grace played a splendid innings for 66. Trumble was mainly responsible for the defeat of the Home team, securing six wickets for 81 runs.
Result of tour : —Matches played, 8 ; won, 6 ; lost, nil; drawn, 2. The next match commences at Wembly Park to-day against an eleven of England.
