Two Narrow Escapes.

A naxbow escape from a fatal accident ooeurred on Sunday at Matawhero. Mrs Newman, accompanied by Mrs McPhail and another lady ware driving to church in » twohorse buggy, when the animals bolted. Both reins broke, and the horses galloped some distance till they overturned the vehicle in the ditch. Mr Newman immediately rushed to the horses heads and held them down. All the occupants were more or leas bruised, and the escape from serious accident wai miraculous.

Another narrow esoape occurred yesterday Mrs Tietjen, with three children and a nurse’ were driving into town, when the bores shied, overturning the trap. All were greatly shaken and bruised.
