Gisborne School.

THE INSPECTOR’S ANNUAL REPORT.

Thu following paragraphs appear in Mr Hill’s report:— The number of pupils entered as attending school at the date of the examination wasTSBT, viz;, 810 males. 262 females. Of this number 327 were presented- tot examination in Standards, or 56 per cent, of the whole. In addition to these a large proportion of the little ones in the infants’ department could pass the requirements of the First Standard, except in drawing, which is now a pats subject. Under the able management of Mr Morgan this’school continues in admirable working order ; the organisation is excellent, and the methods of instruction are intelligent and admirably adapted to the requirements of the pupils in the different Standards. Not only in the pass subjects and class subjects are the results of a high order, but in what are known as additional subjects, and which may or may not be taught at the option of the Head-master, a a high state of efficiency has been reached, most of the classes gaining the mark “ excellent ” in singing, recitation, drill, and drawing. These are the highest marks obtained by any school during the present year. The discipline of the school is excellent, and a high tone prevails through the entire working of the several departments. Mr Morgan, the Head-master, Mr Bull, the Second-master, and indeed every teacher in the school, are to be complimented upon the highly flourishing condition of the school. The school buildings are in good order and repair. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the accommodation is sufficient for present requirements. All the school reqprds, with the exception of the’ Standard Lesson-book, have been kept in accordance with the requirements of the Department. The examination schedules appended contain the results of the examinations in each of the p iss subjects, in each class and for each pupil examined.
