Melbourne, yesterday. A number of horses were out this morning; but nothing of any importance wes done. Silver Prince cantered with Enfilade and showed no signs of lameness, but appeared in splendid condition and will take a lot of beating. Tranter did a mile in splendid style and is very fit. Abercorn and Cranbrook spurted for three furlongs and as the Derby favourite has done great work, he is looked upon as being almost certain to win. Trident looks well and did some good spurting work. Algerion, Australian Peer, Pakeha, and Dunlop all look well. Beoall looks better than he did before the Caulfield Cup, and Remus is in light condition.
There will probably be only eight starters for the Derby. Abercorn, Tranter, and Pakeha should furnish the winner, the former having the choice. Lord William is dead.
