FOOTBALL.

Thebe is considerable rivalry, though of a very friendly nature, existing just now in junior football circles, the late school match having a good deal to do with the revival of the athletic spirit. The Gisborne School has challenged (and been accepted by) a team which was going in for big work last season—a Club making claim to no particular name, but which represents those who have passed from school to their different beginnings in life. Ths school team have a decided advantage over their opponents in being able to get more together, but this should be counterbalanced in other ways, and a keen contest is expected. Several of those who played with the outside Club last year are now in the first fifteens of the senior Clubs and therefore cannot play in the junior match. The match begins at 2.30 next Saturday afternoon, the teams being as follows : —School: Full-back—J. Trimmer ; Half-backs—E. O’Meara (Captain), A. De Costa, and A. Witty ; quarter-backs—H. Lysnar and G. Morgan; forwards—E. Maude, R. Robinson, H. McPhail, E. Matthews, R. Scott, J. Poynter, W. Booth, W. Wilson, and A. Robinson; emergencies—F. Henderson, J. Lewell, W. Reeves, and D. Watt. Opposition team : Full-back—F. Porter (Captain) ; half-backs—A. Thomson, A. Steele, and C. Morgan ; quarter-backs—F. O Meara and T. Witty; forwards —T. Featon, J. Morrison, T. Bresnahan, Harold Ly snar, F. Sherriff, H. Burns, O. Buscke, H. Warren, and B. Connor ; emergencies—E. Wilkinson, J. Poswillo, J, Mackey, and F. Queenin.
