A Shilling Show To-night.

Wb beg to draw the attention of our readers to the advertisement of the Library entertain. ment to be given at McFarlane’s Hall to* night. Mr Hansard, a Napier gentleman at present in Gisborne, and who possesses a dissolving view apparatus of a particularly high-class character, has kindly consented to lend it for the benefit of the Library, and • most novel entertainment will be offered. " A trip through London " will be taken, and the principal sights of the metropolis will be faithfully depicted. Dickens’ story of 11 Gabriel Grubb," with which the visitors at old Mr Wardle's (Pickwick Papers) were horrified, will be shown in a series of views, and the contents of a sculptor’s studio will also be represented on the screen. A leading feature also of the evening will be the gallery of local celebrities, including Parliamentary candidates, municipal celebrities, and so on. In addition to the dissolving views, a capital little musical programme has been arranged, and when we state the " nimble shilling " will be the charge for admission, wa have said enough, we trust,- to ensure a good house. Mr Crawford ia giving valuable Mils, tones as stage manager, and Mr C> Wilson will aot as lecturer for tbe views. The Library is a good useful institution, and ii is to be hoped the funds will get a good lift by to-night's show. By the way, bring the children—sixpence each for them.
