SERIOUS STATE OF AFFAIRS. Auckland, last night. All the Union men have been discharged from the Northern Company’s s.s. Gairlocb. The contest is being carried on with great determination, the Company being prepared to lay up their steamers if crews are not to be found, while the seamen threaten to star! running opposition steamers. The Union officers asked the Collector of Customs to interfere, as steamers were leaving short handed. He declined as he was not satisfied with this fact, The President of the Union has wired to the Minister of Marine complaining, and asking that the Collector be instructed to do his duty.
