£26,690 BAIL FOR BRITISHER IN RUMANIA
LONDON, Nov. 22. An Associated Press correspondent at Bucharest says: Roumanian authorities have released on bail of £26,690, Mr Alexander Walter Evans, a former director of the Roumanian subsidiary of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, who was found guilty of trying to defraud the now nationalised company of £25,000. A Roumanian Court sentenced Evans, a Briton t 0 three years’ imprisonment, ordered him to pay back the £25,000 and fined him an amount equivalent to the bail now deposited. Evans appealed against the sentence. The British Legation has found the bail pending the appeal.
