NANKING, Nov. 22

A Chinese Communist broadcast to-day said the Communists had captured Panting, 90 miles south-west of Peking, and that the Government garrison had fled northwards. This has not been confirmed from other quarters. Fierce fighting continues on both sides of the Lunghai railway, east of Suchow. where two Government columns are trying to converge on the Janchuan area to rescue General Huangpo Tao’s army group, which is encircled by Communists, according to pro-Government dispatches. LONDON. Nov. 22. The Daily Telegraph says: A Communist victory in China would strengthen all the subversive elements in Malaya. Indo-China, and the Netherlands East Indies, which, aim at the destruction of ordered government. The stake in China is whether something like half the world is to be dominated by the ideas and policy emanating from Moscow. Upon Anierican decisions now may turn the whole of Asia’s future., and should Communism win the day there will emerge a major threat to every country bordering on the Pacific.
