NO CRIMINAL CASES SO FAR FOR GREYMOUTH SUPREME COURT SITTINGS
To date, there are no criminal cases for hearing by Mr Justice Fleming at the Greymouth Supreme Court, sessions, which begin at 10.30 am. next Monday. If nothing is presented to; trial or sentence before Monday, the Judge will receive the traditional pair of white gloves. . . The hearing will last, it is expected, for three days, and one case will require a jury of 12. There are three civil actions, nine independent divorce petitions, and two undefended actions for restitution of conjugial rights. _ The Judge and a jury of 12 will hear a claim by Oswald Henry Jackson for £1547 7s 8d special, and £5OO general damages against the Greymouth Borough Council, and John Sydney Trowbridge. The claim is for damage and destruction alleged to have been caused to gladioli, coims, bulbs and seedlings, when certain cattle, alleged to be owned by Trowbridge, and driven by a drover allegedly in the employ of the Borough Council, broke into Jackson s property and caused the destruction. “The Judge alone will hear an action by Hugh Campbell William Morgan against Marv Moressey, claiming possession of the Cobden Hokel premises, pursuant to the determination of the tenancy by notice to quit and for nonpayment of rent. Before the Judge alone will also be a c*aim by Ronald Adrian Mitchell against Felix Mathieu Mitchell and others, for provision by the plaintiff from his deceased father’s estate under the Family Protection Act.
