A London cable records the death of Sir Frederick Wrottesley who until last month was Lord Justice of Appeal. Mi- N. E. Clemens, the recently appointed town clerk, of Greymouth, is expected to arrive from Kaiapoi tomorrow. The Borough Council will decide the date on which he will take over his new office at its meeting on Thursday night. On Sunday, Mr Arthur Trevelyan Russel, of Otane, was 100 years old. Born in Sydney, he came to New Zealand in 1867 and worked on various sheep stations in Hawke’s Bay. There were eight sons and three daughters in his family. He has one surviving brother, who lives in Australia, and he is in the eighties. Beyond difficulty in reading and a slight deafness Mr Russell has kept good health.
