133 Casualties in Faction Riot at Calcutta
(N.Z.P.A.—REUTER CABLE) (Rec. 9.5). CALCUTTA, Nov. 14. The Bengal Government has announced that 26 people were injured in a clash when “unruly elements” obstructed a Mohirrum (a Moslem religious festival) procession in Northern Calcutta. Police opened fire, and used tear gas. The authorities have imposed a curfew. LATER. It was officially announced that five people were killed and 128 were injured in the clash when the demonstrators attacked the Moslem religious procession.
