The children’s paddling pool at Dixon Park, presented by the Greymouth Rotary Club is taking shape. Working bees of members will start immediately in the hope that the pool will be ready for next summer. The contract for a new broadcasting studio in Greymouth should be completed within a few days. The new studio will occupy the upper floor of central chambers, Mackay Street, present location of smaller offices. It is expected that the new studio will be completed about the middle of next year. The Minister of Broadcasting (Hon. F. Jones), will open the. studio and the new transmitting station at Taramakau. Two mechanics have joined the senior technician at Taramakau and a third appointment is expected shortly. A total of £9361 was granted exservicemen by the Rehabilitation Department lasi month. More than half were issued for three farming loans, amounting to £5345. Loans for three houses totalled £l7BO and three loans for furniture amounted to £297. As a medium of advertising the West Coast, the photographs were invaluable, said the Mayor (Mr F. F. Boustridge; yesterday, after inspecting several coloured aerial photographs of Greymouth. He was addressing representatives of the Grey Chamber of Commerce, the Westland Progress League and citizens who viewed the photographs. The series will be exhibited for the public in Wesley Hall on Monday.
