Greymouth Grocers Close Four Days at Christmas and New Year
The West Coast Master Grocers’ Association at its annual meeting decided to close at 9 p.m. on Friday, December 24, and re-open on Wednesday. December 29. They will also close at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and re-open on Wednesday, January 5 1949. ’ It was also decided to observe as a holiday in place of Anniversary Day, Monday, February 14. For the visit of the Royal Family, it was decided to recommend to the Greymouth Chamber of Commerce that all business premises close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, and that, a iui: holiday be observed the followmg day. , . It was decided to support the abolition of butter rationing. The following officers were elected: — . . President, Mr P. Beck; vice-presi-dent, Mr G. Boucher; executive, Messrs J. Keating jnr., R. Ramage, and S. McDonnell.
