DAMAGE DONE BY INTRUDER

NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 13. Wanton damage was done by an intruder who entered the shop of Mr I Crawford, news agent and tobacconist at Hawera during last night, through a back window. Mr Crawford suffered heavy loss by the wilful destruction of goods of various types with which his shop is stocked. Many articles were irreparably damaged. Pipes were broken in two, racing books were torn in halves, and tobacco and perfumed powder were taken from packets and scattered over the floor, together with cigarette papers, combs, toothpaste and magazines. No money was taken.
